Job Description

The organization is seeking an experienced Sports Manager – Regional Tournaments to lead the planning, activation, and execution of grassroots and regional tournaments across East India.

This role is critical to building the player discovery pipeline, expanding the Cricket Team's footprint, and strengthening Premier League’s presence across the East Zone, starting with West Bengal and expanding into Assam, the North-East, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. The position is remote-based out of Kolkata, requiring strong regional knowledge, deep grassroots experience, and the ability to independently manage multi-city tournament operations.

Key Responsibilities

§ Regional Tournament Strategy & Activation

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute regional and grassroots tennis-ball cricket tournaments under the Cricket team ecosystem.
  • Build a phased rollout plan starting with West Bengal, followed by Assam and the North-East, and expansion into Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
  • Design tournament formats aligned with team's talent scouting and fan engagement objectives.

§  Operations & On-Ground Execution

  • Oversee end-to-end tournament operations, including venue identification, match scheduling, logistics, manpower deployment, and equipment management.
  • Ensure smooth execution across multiple cities and states simultaneously.
  • Maintain operational SOPs and ensure adherence to Premier League and franchise guidelines.

 

§ Grassroots & Talent Development

  • Create and manage a structured talent identification pipeline feeding into Premier League trials and franchise scouting programs.
  • Build strong relationships with local cricket bodies, academies, community organizers, and influencers across the East Zone.
  • Ensure inclusivity and reach into semi-urban and rural cricket markets.

§  Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with local associations, ground owners, vendors, umpires, scorers, and event staff.
  • Act as the primary regional SPOC for all tournament-related communications.
  • Manage vendor negotiations, cost optimization, and execution timelines.

§ Budgeting & Reporting

  • Prepare and manage regional tournament budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and financial discipline.
  • Track expenses, maintain MIS reports, and submit post-event performance and participation reports.
  • Provide insights on participation trends, regional talent density, and expansion opportunities.

§ Brand & Community Engagement

  • Strengthen the cricket team brand presence across the East Zone through local tournaments and activations.
  • Support marketing and digital teams with on-ground content, stories, and regional narratives.
  • Represent the franchise professionally in all regional engagements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • 6–7+ years of experience in sports event operations, preferably grassroots or regional tournaments.
  • Strong understanding of Indian cricket ecosystems, especially tennis-ball / street cricket formats.

Skills- 

  • Prior experience managing multi-city or multi-state events is mandatory.
  • Excellent operational, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setup while managing large on-ground teams.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across East India.
  • Strong local network across sports bodies, academies, and vendors is a major advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office / Google Workspace; reporting and documentation skills essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Bengali; knowledge of Hindi and regional languages is a plus.
